Palynologists, Nannopalaeontologists and Stratigraphers
Palynologists / Stratigraphers:
Paul Dodsworth: Over 19 years experience as a Tertiary and Cretaceous palynologist with worldwide application ~ extensive wellsite experience ~ utilised palynology at wellsite for picking of casing points and TD calls ~ specialist in assisting with the geo-steering of ‘horizontal’ wells in the Lista Formation (Paleocene), North Sea ~ At the forefront of using palynology in geo-steering of unconventional reservoirs in the Eagle Ford (Cenomanian – Turonian), Texas ~ The wellsite service has also been deployed to provide ‘real time’ calibration of exploration wells, and pilot wells in field development areas.
Martin Pearce: Over 18 years palynological experience of the biostratigraphy and palaeoenvironmental significance of dinocysts from Upper Triassic to Quaternary, and is author of 16 peer-reviewed publications. In addition, he has almost 10 years’ experience as a principal biostratigrapher at Statoil where he managed a large number of wellsite biostratigraphy projects from the Norwegian Continental Shelf, Algeria and the Gulf of Mexico. He has wellsite experience of the UK Atlantic margin and for 5-weeks was the sole wellsite biostratigrapher on the Statoil-led Kanumas Group shallow coring expedition of the offshore NE Greenland margin.
Palynology Technician:
Nigel Patrick: Highly experienced technician with over 34 years experience carrying out palynology and micropalaeontology slide preparations onshore and offshore ~ Worked for major oil companies and and established biostrat consultancies both in the UK and Norway. Wide experience of health and safety both onshore and offshore and holds the NEBOSH certificate in occupational safety and health. Technician member of IOSH.
Nannopalaeontologists / Stratigraphers:
Osman Varol: Over 35 years extensive industrial experience world wide on sediments ranging from Triassic to Tertiary ~ At the forefront of recent developments in the industrial application of nannofossil analyses – With the development of horizontal drilling techniques he has applied his comprehensive knowledge of nannofossils to biosteer drilling operations in many locations around the world and during the late 1980’s was the initiator of the application of biosteering in the chalk reservoirs of the Early Paleocene and Late Cretaceous of the North Sea using nannofossils ~ He has additional experience of using nannofossils to determine the precise placement of casing points during the drilling of high pressure wells in various basins around the world.
Brett Woodhouse: Over 12 years experience as a nannofossil worker on sediments ranging from Jurassic to Tertiary ~ He has extensively used his broad knowledge in the application of nannofossils in horizontal biosteering, vertical geostopping and well-section TD ~ utilising nannofossils for picking coring points, preliminary core analysis at wellsite, HP/HT wells ~ H2S, underbalance reservoir drilling, continuous circulation drilling and monitored pressure drilling. ~ He has worked extensively on UKCS, NOC and Danish offshore fields and his international experience covers Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Mauritania, Angola, Mozambique, Pakistan, Romania and Slovakia ~ He is also a key member of our team in Saudi Arabia undertaking the biosteering of underbalanced coiled drilling of the Khuff reservoirs.
