Wildcat and exploration wells: Our collective expertise and global knowledge as biostratigraphers enables us to provide complete stratigraphic coverage of the Cenozoic, Mesozoic and Late Palaeozoic in remote geographical areas where there is little offset data, limited knowledge of basin geometry and dynamics, and hydrocarbon productivity is unproven. With the need to minimise the huge expenditure often associated with wildcat, exploratory drilling, Millennia can select a specific team from our pool of highly experienced sedimentologists, petrographers, micropalaeontologists, palynologists and nannoplaeontologists to meet specific challenges.

HT / HP wells: The successful drilling of critical HT / HP wells is often dependent on the accurate placement of casing and to this end the use of the most appropriate biostratigraphic disciplines to achieve ‘real-time’, high-resolution control is essential to the operation.

UBCTD wells: We offer significant expertise in the biosteering of horizontal wells and have utilised micropalaeontology, nannopalaeontology, palynology and thin-section/petrographic analyses, either independently or in combination to meet the challenge of defining the optimum reservoir zone thickness and maintaining drill bit position within the target ‘sweet spot’ with the aim of achieving maximum reservoir contact.

Real-time, wellsite biosteering offers significant risk reduction, enhanced production rates, rejuvenation of old fields, cost savings to wellsite operations and field development through real-time biostratigraphic and geological data validation and real-time data driven modelling, resulting in accurate placement of the wellpath, smoother wellpath trajectory, increased ROP, drilling in spite of LWD tool failures and extended reach.
